The Blessedness of Not Seeing

John 20:24-31 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. (25) The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. (26) And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. (27) Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (28) And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (29) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: (31) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name

. This was, of course, immediately following the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and His first meeting with ten of the eleven remaining disciples. Thomas, refused to believe, in spite of how sincerely and adamantly his fellow disciples insisted that they had indeed seen the risen Christ. His stubbornness to hear and believe these whom he had come to know so well over the past three years, may seem strange to us. We must remember, however, that Thomas very likely had been an eyewitness of the crucifixion, death and burial of this dear friend whom he dearly loved and to whom he had committed his entire life. Would not most of us have reacted much the same? Then, as the scriptures tell us eight days later, as they were once again gathered together behind locked doors for fear of Jews, the Lord Himself suddenly appeared in their midst. Following his greeting of, “Peace be with you,” Jesus immediately turned His attention toward Thomas. Can you picture the Lord Jesus, looking tenderly into the fearful eyes of this young believer, as he reached toward him with his nail scarred hand and then opened his robe to expose the fresh wound that the tip of the spear had made in his side, and said:

Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

My Lord and my God.

I can imagine Thomas falling face down in awe and reverence before the Lord, as he uttered those four ever so true and powerful words:

Jesus’ answer was for you, for me, and all those who would not have the great blessing of acutally seeing him in His resurrected body Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Do you see that, Jesus told Thomas though he was blessed beyond belief, those who had not seen and yet believed were even more blessed! How could this be? How could you and I be more blessed than those who actually witnessed all of these wondrous events with their physical eyes? The Lord did not go on to tell us in this passage exactly what he meant, but there is one thing that God’s Word makes very clear from Genesis to The Revelation.

Galatians 3:8-9 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. (9) So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (2) By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

No, we have not seen Jesus Christ with our fleshly eyes, we have surely seen Him ever so clearly with our hearts through eyes of God-given faith.

1 Peter 1:7-9 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (9) Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Do you know this blessedness of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you, though you have never seen Him, filled with joy unspeakable and full of glory? Do you know in whom you have believed and that He is able, even more than able, to keep you and bless you beyond measure for all eternity? Do you, by faith, know the blessedness of knowing. as surely as Thomas knew, that Jesus Christ is truly, your Lord and your God?

“To GOD Be The GLORY!”

1Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

“Praise the Lord, praise the Lord let the earth hear His voice
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord let the people rejoice
Come to the Father through Jesus the Son
Give Him the glory great things He has done”

Psalms 29:1-2 A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

I am sure that you will agree that glorifying God, should be the very greatest desire in the hearts and minds of every true child of God. Was that not the ultimate goal in everything the Son of God, (our perfect example), Himself did while he was here on earth?

John 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

1John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

How is it that the Lord tells us that we can make this ultimate desire of ours become a reality in our lives?  Well, first of all let’s look at what it means, “to glorify?” The Strong’s Concordance, defines it like this:

to cause the dignity and worth of some person or thing to become manifest and acknowledged.”

So, in other words, since it is God we are wanting to glorify, we want to show to everyone around us, just how much our magnificent and glorious God and Saviour really means to us.

Psalms 86:11-13 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

I am convinced that the more we allow the Lord to teach and remind us more fully of who He really is and what He has really done, according to the scriptures, the more we will be able to give Him the glory and honor He truly deserves.

Consider the multitude of His mercies!

While we were dead in our sins, in MERCY, He sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins!

While we were dead in our sins, in MERCY, He came and gave us life!

While we were yet sinners, in MERCY, He gave us faith to believe in the “Lamb of God,” who became sin for us and imputed to us His righteousness!

Yes, Hallelujah, in MERCY, He delivered my soul from the lowest hell, simply because He loved me!

Let us GLORIFY HIS NAME!

Psalms 107:1-2 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Let “the redeemed,” those who have known and experienced, firsthand, the wondrous grace and mercy of God, GLORIFY HIS NAME!

Can we truly know and believe these glorious truths and hide them?

Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Is it possible that there could be anything more important to us than this GLORIOUS GOD OF OUR SALVATION?

Can there be anything that should more fill our hearts and minds and mouths than what He has done, is doing and will do?

Is there anyone or anything who could possibly be more worthy of our glory and praise than our GREAT AND MERCIFUL FATHER IN HEAVEN?

1Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

“In Him Will I Trust”

2Samuel 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

The truth is, the pathway of life is uncertain for all. Not one of us, has the faintest idea, what tomorrow holds.  God, our all wise Creator, has ordained it even to be so. Nothing is hidden from Him, who formed man out of the clay and breathed into him the breath of life. He knows us to the very depth of our souls. He knows the yearning we all have, to see what lies ahead and the tendency we all have, “to lean on the arm of the flesh.”

Our Father, in His infinite goodness and wisdom, made a better way.  A way that would guarantee His children a source of continual rejoicing and constant praise. His way is simply, but sincerely and whole heartedly, to put our trust in Him!

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I guess we all know what “trust,” means.

TRUST, n.

  1. Confidence; a reliance or resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, friendship or other sound principle of another person.

We can all agree, that our GOD is without question, completely worthy of 100% of our trust.  We can also be assured of the fact, that the very last thing, the flesh, the devil and the world want to see, is someone who simply takes God at His word, and says,

Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Has our Lord not proven to us countless times in His word, how trustworthy He has been in the lives of His children?

Abraham trusted God, stepped into the unknown, and saw the Lord make of him a great nation.

Genesis 12:1-2 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Rahab, trusted God, hanging the scarlet thread of hope from her window and the Lord saved her entire family!

Joshua 6:25 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Daniel trusted God, prayed anyway, and the Lord delivered him from the mouths of the hungry lions.

Daniel 6:22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

Stephen trusted God, preaching the gospel faithfully to his death and the Lord stood and personally welcomed him through the gates of glory

Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

We trusted, believing God for forgiveness, for justification, for redemption, for an eternal home in heaven with Him, and we know by grace through faith, the Lord has given us all these things in Christ!

Shall we not then say, “In Him will I trust,” believing Him to faithfully lead us, through every trial, through every temptation, through every tribulation and through every difficult decision, into a life of rejoicing in all the grace and mercy and goodness of our ever-faithful God!

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

“Neither Pray I For These Alone…”

November 18, 2018

John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

What a blessing! The Lord Jesus, Himself, prayed not only for those true disciples His Father had given Him during His earthly ministry, but he also prayed for us, the believers whom He knew would hear and believe and follow, in the hundreds and thousands of years after His ascension. Jesus’ interceding love for you and me not only has been going on long, long before we ever came on the scene, it continues even today!  So always remember, when the devil tries to tell you that no one cares, he is a liar!  “No one ever cared for you, like Jesus!”

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Well one thing we can be sure of, Jesus never prayed a prayer that was not answered and since He was praying for us let’s see what He was asking for on our behalf.

I’m sure there are many other things that could be mentioned here, but we can see that Jesus prayed that:

God the Father would, SATURATE US WITH JOY!

John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

He wanted us to be filled with His joy! The joy of having your sins forgiven and an eternal home in heaven!

Jesus prayed that God the Father would, SHIELD US FROM EVIL!

John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

What a blessing it is to know that no matter what, God is working all things for our good!

Jesus prayed that God the Father would, SANCTIFY US BY HIS WORD!

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The Lord loves us too much to save us and then just leave us the same.  He wants us to know the joy and peace of being cleansed and purified by His precious word!

Jesus prayed that God the Father would SEPARATE US FROM THIS WICKED WORLD!

John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

He wants us to follow in His steps, to shine brightly for the Father, that the world could see His Light shining through us, for the honor and glory of the Father!

Jesus prayed that God the Father would SECURE US IN THEIR LOVE!

John 17:23-26 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Halleluiah! We are together, eternally sealed with the pure, holy, faithful LOVE of ALMIGHTY GOD!

How Could THIS BE?

October 7, 2018

Romans 8:14-15 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Indeed, how could this be?  A wicked, hopeless, doomed sinner adopted by the Holy God of all Creation!  J.D. Greear said, “Standing in the presence of God with sin would be like tissue paper touching the sun!”

How could a perfectly holy and just God, bring a wretched sinner into His presence, much less into His family, as an adopted daughter or son?

If God were to overlook our sin, He would no longer be true to His Word, nor would He be PERFECTLY HOLY.  If God were to simply accept us as we are, He would no longer be true to His Word, nor would He be PERFECTLY JUST.  Only GOD, in His PERFECT WISDOM and PERFECT LOVE and PERFECT POWER could have come up with His PERFECT SALVATION!

Romans3:24-26 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Yes, Christ became our Justifier. He suffered the punishment which our Perfectly JUST GOD demanded.  The punishment that you and I so rightfully deserved. A truth so overwhelming, it is impossible for our finite brains to even fathom!  A PERFECT LOVE, far beyond our understanding!

2Corinthians 5:19-21 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Yes, Halleluiah!  It is ONLY because our sin debt has been paid in full!  By His wonderful, miraculous grace and mercy, there is no longer any sin for God to see.  As unbelievable as it may sound, when this wretched sinner stands before our PERFECTLY JUST AND HOLY CREATOR, He will see only His PERFECTLY HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS SON, because we have been clothed with His RIGHTEOSNESS!

1Corinthians 1:29-31 That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

How could THIS BE? How could a HOLY GOD adopt a wretched sinner into the family of God and love and cherish him or her for all eternity? No, it was indeed, nothing I could ever do or you could ever do. No, it was nothing that you nor I could ever begin to do.

This was and is and will forever be, ALL OF GOD!

What a LOVE! What a SALVATION!  What a SAVIOUR!

Ephesians 2:4-10 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The Gift of Faith!

April 22, 2018

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Faith, what an “unspeakable gift” from God! It was this wondrous gift of faith in the gospel of Christ, that brought the glorious grace of God into my heart, that saved my wretched soul!

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

God has reminded me once again, that faith is everything to His children.

**There is the Promise of Trusting Faith!

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

It is only by God’s shield of faith we can withstand the constant attacks of satan’s fiery darts trying to fill our minds with doubt, discouragement, depression and defeat!

**There is the Power of True Faith!

1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Victory over the world is ours through faith in our faithful Lord and King!

**There is the Peace of Tested Faith!

1Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

What peace and joy this tested faith brings to our souls!

**There is the Preciousness of Tried Faith!

1Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

God said, when our faith has been tried with His fire if becomes ever so much more precious than anything we can imagine!

**And there is the Praise of Triumphant Faith!

2Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

What a day that will be when we, by His grace will be able to give Christ all the glory and praise for His glorious grace through His triumphant faith!

“But Your Eyes Have Seen…”

March 3, 2018

Deuteronomy 11:7-8 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did. Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;

Beginning in Deuteronomy 11:1, we find God telling the children of Israel, that He was not speaking to their children, who had not seen “what He did,” in delivering them from Egyptian bondage and in taking care of them in the wilderness, as well as His chastisements and judgements of those who disobeyed and rebelled.  But He was speaking unto those who had seen His wondrous hand of mercy, judgement and deliverance at work, many times in the past.

The Lord used this to bring back to my mind, things the Lord has allowed my eyes to see, in the forty-one years since He saved me. How we can all rejoice in what we have seen of the grace and mercy and goodness of God, in days gone by and thereby be encouraged that He is ever faithful in all that He does!

Remember when you saw the Lord Convict you of your sinfulness?

Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Remember when you saw the Lord Convince you of your need for a Saviour?

Acts 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Remember when you saw the Lord, Choose to give you faith in the saving power of His only begotten Son?

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Remember Halleluiah! when you saw the Lord Cleanse you from all your wickedness and Clothe you with His righteousness?

2Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Remember when you saw the Lord Create you as a new creation in Christ?

2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Remember when you saw the Lord Call you to follow in His steps?

1Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

And remember all the times the Lord has Comforted you with all His lovingkindness and tender mercies!

Ps 94:18-19 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Praise God, our eyes have seen and by His mercy and grace, will continue to see the wondrous mercy of our glorious Saviour!

“But Continue!”

2Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

When we read the verses just prior to these, we see that God is using the Apostle Paul to encourage Timothy during some very difficult times.  He is telling him that in spite of all that is going on, you just “continue in the things which thou hast learned.”

This old flesh of ours is ever so weak and I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to go strong until things start getting a bit difficult and suddenly I find myself wanting to try something different.  For example, watching what I eat sounds great until Wednesday night fellowship comes around. The plates are never big enough and that is even before I get to the dessert table! There must be a better way, I tell myself.

Pastor Rocky recently mentioned “commitment,” and how we live in a world where this is almost a forgotten word.  And to be committed, we must continue in some things.

God has a special blessing in store for everyone of His children who will by His grace,

Continue in His Love and it will only get stronger and more precious! Loving Christ, loving our wives and families, loving our brothers and sisters.

John 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

Continue in His Word and the power, joy and peace it brings will only multiply!

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Continue in prayer, knowing His ears are open to the cries of His children and you will be overwhelmed with the sweetness of His fellowship and the faithfulness of His answers.

 Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Lord help us to continue, to hold fast, to endure, to be committed to you and the things you have taught us, for your honour and glory, as you endured for us!

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

“Our God is Still an Amazing God!

February 4, 2018

Ephesians 3:19-21 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

We have all read or heard the great stories recorded in the scriptures of our God’s miraculous hand of mercy at work in the lives of His children.  The Bible is literally full of them!

Can you imagine the amazement of the children of Israel as they crossed the Red Sea on dry ground? Can you feel Daniel’s relief when perhaps, the largest lion in the den rubbed his head against Daniel and began to purr or see the amazement on the kings face when he saw four men walking in the midst of the fiery furnace unharmed?  There are so many more, including the accounts of all the Lord Jesus did Himself, while He was on earth and then how God used the Apostles to do all kinds of miraculous things.

No doubt, there are countless testimonies both then and now of what our loving Heavenly Father has done to watch over and care for His dear children.

This is one I came across not too long ago that was a real blessing to me, I pray it will be to you as well.

Charles Inglis, the well-known evangelist, relates the following remarkable incident: “When I first came to America thirty-one years ago, I crossed the Atlantic with the captain of a steamer who was one of the most devoted men I ever knew; and when we were off the banks of Newfoundland he said to me: ‘Mr. Inglis, the last time I crossed here, five weeks ago, one of the most extraordinary things happened that has completely revolutionized the whole of my Christian life.

Up to that time I was one of your ordinary Christians. We had a man of God on board, George Müller, of Bristol. I had been on that bridge for twenty-two hours and never left it. I was startled by someone tapping me on the shoulder. It was George Müller. “‘Captain,’ said he, ‘I have come to tell you that I must be in Quebec on Saturday afternoon.’ This was Wednesday. “‘It is impossible,’ I said. “‘Very well, if your ship can’t take me God will find some other means of locomotion to take me. I have never broken an engagement in fifty-seven years.’ “‘I would willingly help you, but how can I? I am helpless.’ “‘Let us go down to the chart room and pray,’ he said. “I looked at this man and I thought to myself, ‘What lunatic asylum could the man have come from? I never heard of such a thing.’ “‘Mr. Müller,’ I said, ‘do you know how dense this fog is?’ “‘No,’ he replied, ‘my eye is not on the density of the fog, but on the living God, who controls every circumstance of my life.’ “He went down on his knees, and he prayed one of the most simple prayers. I thought to myself, ‘That would suit a children’s class, where the children were not more than eight or nine years of age.’ The burden of his prayer was something like this: ‘O Lord, if it is consistent with Thy will, please remove this fog in five minutes. You know the engagement You made for me in Quebec for Saturday. I believe it is Your will.’ “When he had finished, I was going to pray, but he put his hand on my shoulder and told me not to pray. “‘First,’ he said, ‘you do not believe God will do it; and, second, I believe He has done it. And there is no need whatever for you to pray about it.’ “I looked at him, and George Müller said this: ‘Captain, I have known my Lord for fifty-seven years and there has never been a single day that I have failed to gain an audience with the King. Get up, Captain, and open the door, and you will find the fog is gone.’ I got up, and the fog was gone. On Saturday afternoon George Müller was in Quebec.”

Our God has not changed.  He is still working and moving in wonderful and miraculous ways right here, right now, in our lives to accomplish His good and perfect will!

John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

” I Will Seek Him…”

January 28, 2018

Song of Solomon 3:2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We may find ourselves seeking after many things in the fleeting moments of the precious life with which God has so richly blessed us. I am sure however, you will agree that sincerely seeking the Lord, is the only thing which will truly bless our lives now, as well as for all eternity.

Psalms 70:4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

The scriptures tell us of many young and old, rich and poor whose lives were blessed beyond measure, because they, sought after Him by faith believing the precious promises of God’s Holy Word.

There is even the record God gave us of young King Josiah, only 8 years old, but mightily used of God to be a blessing to the entire nation of Israel!

2Chronicles 34:3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

The Lord only knows, what He has in store for any of His dear children who sincerely seek after Him with all their hearts.

It is from seeking Christ we find, God’s treasures of all wisdom;

Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

It is from seeking Christ we find, God’s all-sufficient grace to help in our time of need!

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

It is from seeking Christ we find, God’s peace which reaches beyond all our understanding!

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It is from seeking Christ we find, God’s love which we can’t even comprehend!

Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Let us all be able to say with King Solomon, “I found Him whom my soul loveth…”

Song of Solomon 3:4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go,…”
