“They Had Been With Jesus.”

May 20, 2018

Acts 4:13-14Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

When we read the previous chapter and verses, we see the amazing, miraculous truth and testimony of the power of Jesus Christ in the lives of ordinary men.  Remember how God had used Peter and John in the healing of the crippled man and then given them the boldness to preach the truth of the gospel to all who came together to see how such a miracle could be possible.  It is a beautiful story of the grace and mercy of God!   We see that none of the wonderful things which happened here were a result of the ways nor the wisdom of men. It all came about simply because these men “had been with Jesus.”

They had been with Jesus in His teaching.

Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

What better teacher could anyone ever have, than the One who is the source of all wisdom and knowledge.

Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

They had been with Jesus in His truth.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

They had been there in the toughness of His truth.

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

And in the tenderness of His truth.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

They had been there with Him in His testings and trials.

Luke 6:7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

How perfectly our Saviour handled each question and confrontation always manifesting God’s righteousness, truth and love.

Mark 6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

They had been with Jesus in His triumph!

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

What a difference walking and talking with the Lord Jesus had made in the lives of these common fisherman! Yes, these were clearly men specially chosen of the Lord, to accomplish His will at that time, as His apostles.  But God is still working in the lives of men and women, boys and girls in this day. Jesus Christ left a precious and powerful promise to every believer!

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Lord, help us to learn of you as the Holy Ghost teaches us from your word and use us to bring you glory and honour and praise!

Precious Moments in Time

May, 13, 2018My Sites

Ephesians 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Our life is made up of years, months, weeks, days, hours and minutes.  We rarely pay much attention to the seconds, especially when we see the weeks seeming to fly by us, as if they were but days.

God tells His children to redeem (or reclaim) the time: “to make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good, so that zeal and well doing are as it were the purchase money by which we make the time our own.”

The Lord tells us the life with which He has blessed us, is but a vapour, even if it were to last a hundred years.

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

The older I get; the more precious time becomes.  Unfortunately, more often than not, I still tend to take far too many of life’s precious moments for granted.

It is my hearts’ desire, as I’m sure it is yours, to live out the rest of my days, wholly following the Lord.

Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God wants us to know the joy of spending the precious moments with which He has so mercifully blessed us, in ways that truly honour and glorify Him.  Our Lord Jesus, is of course, our perfect example in every way!

1Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

However, there are those who daily walk and work among us, who are also great examples of giving their lives, whole heartedly, to fulfill their calling from God.  I could name several that we all know, just from seeing what they do day by day.

Since it is Mother’s Day, it is our precious Godly mothers who should receive our appreciation and recognition, as I am sure that you would agree.

If you are one who has been so wonderfully blessed to have been born to and trained up by a sincere, loving Godly Momma, then you know exactly what I am talking about.

Can you think of anyone who has suffered and sacrificed more for you?  Is there anyone who has given more of the precious moments of their lives in doing their best to make sure you were healthy, happy and being taken care of in every possible way.

I remember well the hours and hours Robbie, my wife, spent caring for our daughters.  There is no telling how many precious moments she spent rocking Charlotte in that rocking chair, often far into to early morning hours.  Then, as she grew older the time spent with fiddle practice and homework, not to mention the daily routine of training both Shanda and Charlotte into being the Godly young ladies that they are today.

Yes, of course, it is all only by the grace and mercy of God that any mother is able to give their lives to be the wife and mother that God wants them to be.  But we want to give honour where honour is due and let our Godly wives and mothers know how much we appreciate all the precious moments they have spent and are spending loving and caring for us for the honour and glory of God!

Proverbs 31:27-29 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

“And Be Ye Thankful.”

May 6, 2108

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

The Lord is so patient and longsuffering with His dear children, especially ones like myself, who need to be so often reminded of the things.  This week my reminder was on the need for me to be “thankful.”  You would think that something as plain and simple as that, would pretty much just come second nature. After all, there is no doubt, that all of us who know Christ, “have so much to thank Him for!”  Unfortunately, however, with at least a few of us, who more often than not, see only the darkness of the storm clouds looming on the horizon, such is not the case. How quickly I find myself, consumed with dwelling on my present dilemma, rather than reminding myself of all for which I have to be thankful.

2Corinthians 9:11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

Most assuredly, this old wicked world and many times, even our own earthly lives, can seemingly, be filled with nothing but doom and gloom.  Oh, if we can but remind ourselves, to lift our eyes heavenward, looking unto Jesus, through the precious promises of His perfect word, our hearts would surely be flooded with thankfulness and praise!

Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

It is because our loving Creator knows the frailness of our feeble flesh, that He has so mercifully sealed us with His very own Spirit, the Holy Ghost.  It is He, our Comforter and Guide, who shifts our gaze from the darkness of the devil’s despair to the glory of the goodness of the grace of God, in Christ Jesus!

He fixes our eyes of faith on the multitude of His mercies and His forever forgiveness.  How can we be anything, but THANKFUL!

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Yes, Praise God, He said, He would bring all things to our remembrance!

He reminds us to be thankful for the pity of His past love.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

He reminds us to be thankful for the patience of His present love!

2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

And He reminds us to be thankful for the Power of His permanent love!

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Holy Spirit please remind us to be ever THANKFUL!

 Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

“Is Any Thing Too Hard For the Lord?”

April 29, 2018

Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

We all know the answer to this question! Not only is it answered generally, by numerous accounts within the pages of scripture, it is answered specifically by the prophet Jeremiah, when he says:

Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

We know therefore, that there is no sinner too sinful that he cannot be saved, by God’s saving grace!

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

We know that there is no suffering too sorrowful that it cannot be soothed, by God’s succoring comfort.

2Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

We know that there is no snare too subtle that it cannot be shown, by God’s sure truth!

2Timothy 2:25-26 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

We know that there is no storm too strong that it cannot be stopped, by God’s staying power.

Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

We know that there is no struggle too severe that it cannot be surpassed, by God’s sublime peace!

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We know that there is no situation too splintered that it cannot be sealed, by God’s steadfast love!

Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And we know there is no saint too shaken that they cannot be secured, by God’s sovereign mercy!

Romans 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Praise the Lord We KNOW there is NOTHING too hard for our ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER!

The Gift of Faith!

April 22, 2018

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Faith, what an “unspeakable gift” from God! It was this wondrous gift of faith in the gospel of Christ, that brought the glorious grace of God into my heart, that saved my wretched soul!

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

God has reminded me once again, that faith is everything to His children.

**There is the Promise of Trusting Faith!

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

It is only by God’s shield of faith we can withstand the constant attacks of satan’s fiery darts trying to fill our minds with doubt, discouragement, depression and defeat!

**There is the Power of True Faith!

1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Victory over the world is ours through faith in our faithful Lord and King!

**There is the Peace of Tested Faith!

1Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

What peace and joy this tested faith brings to our souls!

**There is the Preciousness of Tried Faith!

1Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

God said, when our faith has been tried with His fire if becomes ever so much more precious than anything we can imagine!

**And there is the Praise of Triumphant Faith!

2Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

What a day that will be when we, by His grace will be able to give Christ all the glory and praise for His glorious grace through His triumphant faith!

“For God Giveth Wisdom.”

April 15, 2018

Proverbs 2:6-7 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

According to Brother Webster, “wisdom,” means: “The right use or exercise of knowledge;” According to the scriptures, any true wisdom comes only from God,

Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

God’s Wisdom is PROMISED!  He said all we had to do was ask.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

 God’s Wisdom is most PRECIOUS!

Proverbs 8:11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

             God’s Wisdom is POWERFUL!

Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

God’s Wisdom is PURE AND PEACEABLE!

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

God’s Wisdom is PRODUCTIVE!

James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

God also tells us in His Word where the source of His wisdom lies!

1Corinthians 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

1Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

If we but ask we can have this precious promise of the powerful, pure peaceable and productive WISDOM of GOD in CHRIST!

It is GOD’S PERFECT WISDOM which teaches us when to speak, when not to speak and what to say when we speak.

It is GOD’S PERFECT WISDOM which teaches us when to act, when not to act and what to do when we act.

It is GOD’S PERFECT WISDOM which teaches us the path to take, the path not to take and when we are to walk that path.

It is GOD’S PERFECT WISDOM which teaches us what to choose, what not to choose and when to choose it.

It is GOD’S PERFECT WISDOM which will guide us perfectly through every possible problem of life and on into His eternal presence.

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS PROMISE OF WISDOM!

“Unto HIM be the GLORY!”

April 8, 2018

Ephesians 3:20-21Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Daily we hear of the grand achievements of mankind. The headlines read of this amazing athlete, or that successful businessman, of this incredible doctor or that scientific or social genius. Sadly, however, we hear nothing, or at best, so very little is spoken of the matchless knowledge, wisdom, power and majesty of our GLORIOUS GOD and ALMIGHTY CREATOR!  It seems, that for the most part, the creation has rejected their Creator, in spite of His wondrous grace and mercy.

Oh, that we would not let this be so among His children!

 Psalms 107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

May our lips be filled with glorifying our LORD!

Romans 15:5-6 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For Christ alone is worthy! And though the world around us reject His truth and refuse to even acknowledge His presence, let the voice of the church be lifted up continually, to proclaim the honour and praise and GLORY which our God so rightfully deserves!

Let the church GLORY IN HIS GREATNESS!

Psalms 145:1-3 David’s Psalm of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

Has not God in His mercy given us, at least a glimpse, of His magnificent and unsearchable GREATNESS!

Let the church GLORY IN HIS GOODNESS!

Psalms 31:19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

Oh, the wonder of GOODNESS of God in our lives!

Let the church GLORY IN HIS GRACE!

 Ephesians 1:6-7 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Can we keep silent when we are reminded of the GLORIOUS GRACE our heavenly Father has poured out on His people!  The GRACE which brought our BLESSED REDEEMER to pay our sin debt, the GRACE that keeps us through all the trials and tribulations of this life and the GRACE which will usher us into the glorious presence of our Saviour and King, where we will spend all eternity!

Romans 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

We Have Peace!

April 1, 2018

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Yes, as born-again believers in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, (His death, His burial and Halleluiah, His resurrection,) we now have the supreme blessing of with PEACE WITH GOD!  Praise the Lord, we no longer need fear the wrath of Almighty God, we so rightfully deserve, because CHRIST has become OUR PEACE!

 Ephesians 2:13-14 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

The world around us, knows at best, only brief moments of the fleeting feeling of what they call peace, which is not peace at all. The only true PEACE is given by God to His children, through our Faithful Friend and Resurrected Redeemer, JESUS CHRIST!

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

What an indescribable blessing, not only to have peace with God, but to be able, by the grace of God, to walk through this life of turmoil, trials and tribulations, not only having peace with God, but knowing the PEACE OF GOD!

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The Devine difference is, that though we face much of the same unexpected storms of sickness, sadness, sorrow and grief that all the world around us experiences, we have the PRINCE of PEACE, either calming the winds and the waves or comforting His beloved children in the midst of the raging storm, with HIS PRECIOUS PEACE!

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

God reminds us in His word, that in this world there would be troubles, trials and tribulation, and as we all well know, there are times things can look absolutely hopeless.  Yet, Praise be to God, in His mercy, He did not leave us to fend for ourselves!

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

It is only, in the Resurrected Christ, and in His precious promises that PRAISE GOD, we have not only PEACE with GOD, but the PEACE OF GOD!

Psalms 29:10-11 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

2Thessallians 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

“My STRENGTH!”

March 25, 2018

Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

What a blessing to once again be reminded that our Almighty, All Powerful, King of kings and Lord of lords, is our STRENGTH!

Praise God, He has not left us to fend for ourselves!

Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Praise God, He is our STRENGTH, in the midst of our Sudden situations in life!

Psalms 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

There is indeed no need to fear. Our very life, is shielded by the mighty strength of the King of Glory, Himself!

Praise God, He is our STRENGTH in the midst of our strongest Storms!

Psalms 107:28-30 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Notice our precious Lord not only calms the storm, but brings us safely to our desired destination!

Praise God, He is our STRENGTH, in the midst or our Sickness!

Psalms 41:3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

Yes, His Great Strength, even lifts us above our failing flesh!

Praise God, He is our STRENGTH, in the midst of Satan’s seducings!

1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Thank the Lord, Satan is totally powerless, in the presence of our Mighty King and Lord and Loving Father!

Praise God, He is our STRENGTH, in the midst our Sorrows!

2Corinthians 1:2-4 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Were It Not For His Mercy!

March 18, 2018

Psalms 103:8-14 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

How could we, even for a moment, forget the magnificent mercies of the Great God of all creation.  When we consider His Omnipotence, Omnipresence and Omniscience, meaning of course, that our God is all-powerful, ever-present, and all-knowing we can only stand in awe!  He tells us that He is Alpha and Omega, what an amazing God!

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Then as He reveals to us a glimpse of His majesty, the powerful light of His truth, exposes to us, our utter uncleanness and unworthiness!

Romans 7:23-24 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Were it not for His Abundant Mercy, we would be altogether hopeless and helpless!

1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Were in not for His Plenteous Mercy, we would forever be permanent prisoners of sin, self and satan!

Psalms 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Were it not for His Everlasting Mercy, we would surely be destined for an eternal torment in the lake of fire!

Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Yes, Praise God for His ever faithful MERCY, yesterday, today and for all eternity!

Romans 15:9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

Psalms 90:14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
